We are, a recipient of the 2017 Peabody Institutional Award, brings to local and national audiences high-quality, content-rich programs created by a diverse body of independent producers. Our programs reflect underrepresented and underserved communities.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Social Media Manager to work in collaboration with a creative team of producers, designers, and marketing experts to develop strategies and tactics for engaging our audiences across social platforms, and for reaching new audiences in the ever-evolving media space. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of our and our various programming initiatives, including ownership of the social presence for the Emmy Award-winning series, Independent Lens.

 

As a source of deep knowledge and expertise in a dynamic social media environment, the Social Media Manager is responsible for combining compelling content with data-driven decision making to produce imaginative campaigns, creative feed curation, and thoughtful community management for activating audiences and sparking conversations around the stories, characters, and issues ITVS brings to the public.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ? Guide strategic management and workflows for ITVS and Independent Lens social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, including new platforms as they emerge
  • ? Benchmark KPIs to measure effectiveness of campaigns and implement strategic and tactical refinements based on results
  • ? Regularly track, analyze, and educate staff about social media successes and disappointments
  • ? Maintain vibrant and engaged audiences on platforms while growing follower base by attracting new audiences
  • ? Maintain consistent brand voices across platforms
  • ? Communicate social media best practices for staff and key partners, including ITVS-funded filmmakers
  • ? Generate compelling editorial content in collaboration with creative team, marketing strategists, digital content producers, filmmakers, and other subject matter experts
  • ? Maintain event-based editorial calendar and inject the ITVS perspective into real time conversations
  • ? Monitor paid advertising to ensure campaign delivery goals are achieved, optimizing as required
  • ? Work with established partners and form new relationships with key collaborators and influencers to enhance digital marketing outreach
  • ? Inform and support digital projects from inception to promotion with staff
  • ? Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, and new technology developments, making recommendations to best serve audiences
  • ? Conduct community management on ITVS social properties and escalate issues as necessary
  • ? Liaison with publicity team to engage press, talent, and when necessary assist with crisis communications

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • ? 2+ years of experience as a social media marketer responsible for crafting and curating daily posts and managing broad social media campaigns
  • ? Experience in data-driven digital marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or a related field, including agency work or with an in-house team
  • ? Prepared to submit a portfolio of previous social campaigns with demonstrated successes
  • ? Thrives at the intersection of media, technology, and creative culture with a love for the energy this field requires
  • ? A strong social media network
  • ? Demonstrated strategic development and leadership experience with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ? Deep interest in culture and follows the news cycle in real time with an eye for emerging themes
  • ? Excellent writing and communication skills far beyond 280 characters
  • ? Desire to conceive innovative ideas and creative solutions, but also values organization and attention to detail
  • ? Intuitive understanding of when and where to use different media types to meet campaign goals
  • ? Deadline-driven with ability to shepherd multiple deliverables and juggle many responsibilities at once
  • ? Experience organizing and implementing new processes and procedures
  • ? Excellent research and organizational skills
  • ? A strong interest in public media, independent film, and storytelling
  • ? Comfortable with ambiguity, solutions-driven, and in possession of a sense of humor
